Rubbing down a cylinder top

Just removing any turning lines with a fine grade emery paper wrapped around a plastic strip.
This needs to be done gently to ensure you don't ridge the metal.

Keep going till any score marks are removed.

You may ask why I don't do the above action using the lathe.

Well I've found that it is difficult to apply the emery paper and you have to be very aware of the fact your fingers etc are very close to a spinning chuck.

The next step is: a polish with a coarse grade polishing mop.
